Upon graduating from American University in Washington, D.C., Erin received a fellowship from the Pulitzer Center to support her debut feature documentary about 80 million unexploded American bombs in Laos, THIS LITTLE LAND OF MINES (Amazon), which went on to receive festival accolades and international distribution. McGoff went on to direct other documentaries such as SOUTHERN SUSTAINABILITY (2018), NEW YORK IS SILENT (Pulitzer Center, 2020), and DARROUZETT, TX (PBS, 2020).
Expanding on her vision to make the world a better place, McGoff brought her filmmaking skills to TikTok in 2020 to share practical, candid, and humorous career advice as the “internet’s big sister”. McGoff has been featured in publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, Forbes, Upworthy, Buzzfeed, and Fortune, and is a contributor to CNBC.
In 2023, McGoff founded her production company Grey Films, and in 2024 she premiered her interview-style YouTube show, No One Knows What They’re Doing. In 2024, McGoff was named one of Forbes 30 Under 30 for her work in democratizing access to career advice. In 2024, McGoff penned a book deal with Penguin Random House and her upcoming book will be released in 2026.
